An Insight into Silversea Arctic Expedition Cruising

An Expedition Cruise to some of the most remote areas of Earth may not always conjure up images of a luxury experience, however on board a Silversea Expeditions Cruise, you will be enriched, enchanted and enthralled in equal measures. This short video should give you a little insight into what you could expect should you embark on a Silversea Expedition. As a Silversea Expeditions Academy member and someone that’s been fortunate enough to have been on board Silver Discoverer, one of the Expeditions fleet, I can answer any questions you may have.

Silversea Expedition Cruises are an inclusive fare. All excursions, safety equipment, guides and talks are included in your fare. You will have the chance to get up close and personal with the locals on board the fleet of Zodiacs. Most days there will be multiple Excursions running, which are tailored to suit varying levels of fitness. A common misconception with Silversea Expedition cruising is the required level of fitness; It isn’t that great. Whilst it does vary from cruise to cruise, If you are able to comfortably manage a flight of stairs, unaided, you will be fine.

The board basis is Ultra Inclusive, the finest of food is served (which believe me is exceptional!) all drinks (from champagne to sommelier paired wines) are also included. There’s no tipping added to your room and entertainment (which is suitably low key on board on Silversea Expedition ships) are also part of your fare. Where Silversea Classic cruises are a semi-formal affair, an expedition cruise is a far more casual experience too.

Prices start from around £380 per person per day, depending on the itinerary and destination. When you consider what is included, an Expedition cruse represents exceptional value for money.

Current stand-out deals would be a stunning 19 day, considerably warmer Expedition cruise from Fort Lauderdale to Lima in Peru via the Caribbean and Panama Canal on board Silver Cloud Expedition. The cruise sails in October 2019.  Taking advantage of the current free airfare, pre-cruise hotel, free transfers and early booking discount promotion, this cruise is an exceptional value offering at £7200pp

If you can’t wait that long then a superb offering is a very rare Eastern Canada Cruise also on board Silver Cloud Expedition. Sailing into The Gulf of St Lawrence, an area of Canada’s national parks which is only accessible with special permission. Expert Ornithologists and Marine Biologists will help bring this once in a lifetime cruise trip to life.  A 9-day round-trip cruise from St Johns in Nova Scotia, including flights and a pre-stay hotel starts at £4950pp
